Born in Chiba Prefecture, Tao began her modeling career at the age of 14. She transitioned to acting at 27, making her film debut as the heroine in “The Wolverine” (2013). Her career has since flourished with roles in major films such as “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), alongside numerous independent projects. Tao has also showcased her talent in international and domestic TV series, including “Westworld” (HBO), “Hannibal” (NBC), “Last Man” (TBS), and “The Silent Service” (Amazon). In 2023, she expanded her cre- ative horizons by debuting as a screenwriter, producer, and director with “Sun & Moon.” Her third film, "My Sweet Pala", and her starring role in Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s "All of the Sudden" are both set for release in 2026.

 

千葉県で生まれ。TAO名義で14歳でモデルデビューし、27歳の時 に 『 ウ ル ヴ ァ リ ン : S A M U R A I 』( 2 0 1 3 年 ) の ヒ ロ イ ン 役 で 映 画 初 出 演。以降も『バットマン vs スーパーマン: ジャスティスの誕生』(2016 年)などの大作に出演する他、インディペンデント作品にも多数参加。 『 ウ エ ス ト ワ ー ル ド 』 ( H B O ) や 『 ハ ン ニ バ ル 』 ( N B C ) 、『 ラ ス ト マ ン 』 (TBS)や『沈黙の艦隊』(Amazon)などの国内外のテレビシリーズ に も 出 演 。 2 0 2 3 年 『 サ ン ・ ア ン ド ・ ム ー ン 』 で 脚 本 、プ ロ デ ュ ー ス 、 監 督 に 初 挑 戦 。監督として3作目となる『My Sweet Pala』のほか、W主演をつとめる映画『急に具合が悪くなる』（濱口竜介監督）が2026年に公開を控える。
